If I could give this hospital a zero, I would. About a month an a half ago I went to the emergency room (encouraged by the local Urgent Care), drove myself there, waited in line, checked in, paid $40 dollars for "the consult", probably spent about 10 min of direct contact with a nurse and 5 min with a doctor and got charged $700 dollars for NOTHING! They DID NOT do ANY blood work, urine test, IV, MRI, or X-ray. NOTHING! And today I called and the best explanation they could give me is "That is the minimum fee for the ER". Save yourself the headache. Literally just by WALKING IN, you already owe them almost a 1,000 dollars, for them to stand in front of you and ask your name. This hospital is not worth the time or the money.
Also, the ER downstairs responded with my symptoms with a laugh and took me as a joke. This place is a FLAT OUT JOKE. GO TO MOSES CONE.
I would rather die. I would not suggest coming to this place.
Patient Relations is a joke. Switchboard didn't even know what hours they work. Left a message, they didn't call back. Scheduling for tests through Gastroenterology was a horrible experience. It is like Larry Moe and Curly do hospitals
I am five months pregnant and have been bleeding and severe pain. The service of the doctors are very poor, and unprofessional. I am the only patient my doctor has and I have been here sense 2:00, it is currently 9:25 and they have not told me one result of what my condition is. While people suffer I am listening to them complain about their jobs, and how late they have to work instead of helping sick patients. I will never come back to this place. They have not even given me an answer as of to why I am bleeding.
Save yourself and your family and consider other options before you come here.
It's not all bad, but I try to avoid going here for medical treatment. Everything that has been said about the long wait times is true, although that's hardly unusual for an ER. The nursing staff seems reasonably attentive and knowledgeable. The doctors get the job done (in spite of their bedside manner), although they've sent me home a couple of times without providing the level of care I can get elsewhere. I've had better experiences at Moses Cone/Wesley Long, although the wait times tend to be even worse.
This place was very huge an sectioned off but the wait for service was 9 hours long. The hospital was very crowded. An some of the staff was a little eager but hardly unpleasant. Needed one more person to assist with the people coming in the hospital. Had a weird system of the patients with minor injuries go ahead of those with major injuries. That doesn't make any sense to a lot of patients who were frustrated because of the length of time there.
