Decent food...had to salt and pepper everything. Order and pay at front counter. Register asks if you want to put a tip on your card, but nobody tells you your drinks are self serve and their is no waitress. Someone from the kitchen carries your order out. I don't know who I tipped....and I tip well.
Typical southern cuisine, two or three vegetables, meat, corn bread sweet tea. All the choices are good, and you get plenty to eat for a reasonable price. Almost no ambiance, just tables and chairs. Order as you go in, and you put a number on your table and they bring the food out hot and fresh.
One of the best places for inexpensive comfort food. Saucy meatloaf, crisp fried squash, and a delicious broccoli casserole are some recommendations, although every item is good. A bonus is the refrigerator in the shop with family style take out, too!
Delaney's is a Burlington institution, well-loved by families and individuals, and its reputation is deserved. Excellent home cooking, good variety, pleasant service. Their catering is amazing...and where I first discovered them. They've catered a Christmas event for 200 for many years for an organization I work with and everyone enjoys it. We always run out of Mac and cheese -- it's so popular! ;)
I'd like to try their lunch. Maybe it was an off night.... It has been recommended to me as being "a really good place to eat" and they do have a great selection and prices are reasonable.
